Word Of Faith

Whose On the Lord's Side?

"Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? Let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him." Exodus 32:26

Moses had just returned from meeting God on the mountain where he received the Ten Commandments. God had informed Moses that during their convocation, the children of Israel were committing egregious acts against God as they were baring their bodies naked, and erecting a golden calf unto themselves. Moses descended from the mount where he received the commandments of God to the people, and was so outraged that he broke the tablets of stone that bore the Ten Commandments.

But then he called them to accountability. Just as God calls us to accountability. He asked, "What have you done? What are you doing? Where do you stand right now. Who is on the Lord's side?" Take a position! The Levites came over to Moses' side in declaration of their position - On the Lord's side.

And he said unto them (the Levites who gathered themselves together unto Moses), "Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour." Exodus 32:27

There were many that fell by the hand of God's Army that day. Those who realized the error of their way and repented - turned from their wickedness and returned to the higher place - on God's side.  The question "Who is on the Lord's side?" rings true today; right where you are; right now. Are you on the Lord's side? Does your life line up with the will of God as outlined in the holy scriptures? Do you resemble Christ?

If it doesn't, you can make a change today, much less this year. You can confess your sin before God, repent of your sin. Repent means to turn away from your evil ways from the low place of your existence, and return unto God. It is a statement of surrendering your will - your life to God, but it is also a statement of alliance. And if you are ready to align yourself with the will and the ways of God, then you must be ready to take up The Sword against your brothers and sisters who do not.

The sword I speak about is the Sword of the Spirit, The Double-Edged Sword that is the Word of God. It is the only offensive weapon against the enemy in the Full Armor of God, spoken of by Paul as inspired by God in the book of Ephesians 6:10-18. When I say take up the Sword against your brothers and sisters, I mean to move in obedience to the Great Commission spoken of in the book of Matthew 28:16-20 given by Jesus Christ to those that follow him to spread his teachings to all the nations of the world.

It is in preaching and teaching the Word of God that we wield this Sword and God pierces the souls of humanity and draws us unto himself. Christ is accepted as Savior and Lord, the old person in us along with its carnal desires is destroyed and a new person along with the spiritual mind after God is resurrected. As we take a moment to discuss the Armor of God this week, I pray that God will open our minds to see how God has pointed us ever forward from the Old Testament to the fulfillment of Love in the New Testament, and give us what we need to stand as we await the glory of Christ's return.

May you be so postured, as you declare which side you are on, to receive the Christ with joy.

In His Service,

Emery & Stephanie
